The Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is working on making a cola with cow urine. Yes, cow urine. It's now being pushed by the department as a health beverage. A health beverage that can cure diseases like cancer.
Om Prakash, leader of RSS, told news outlets that he believed cow urine might be capable of curing cancer.
Yet some say this story isn't even true. It's been fabricated to make fun of the RSS.
But Om Prakash doesn't see it that way. In an interview with Express India he said that cow urine is often referred to as "cow water" and could cure disease. And he insisted that a soft drink using the stuff would be a revolution and that demand for cow pee would increase once people accept it.
He's hoping that with the cow's revered stature in India that this will be an easy sell. He's not stopping at colas but is working on toothpaste, shampoo, soap, face powder and shaving lotion to balm, biscuits, incense sticks, phenyl, mosquito coils and distemper which are being made from cow urine and cow dung. He also says that tiles made up of cow dung have been found to be fire and water-resistant and can ward off radiation.
Premarin, an estrogen drug made in America, is made from horse urine. If this cola becomes popular then look for Premarin-based cocktails at underground parties. Rum, mint, premarin, lime and soda would make a good urine-based mojito. Just kidding. But seriously, don't drink bar urine.
Founded in 1925, the RSS stands for the National Volunteers Organization which promotes cultural nationalism and integral humanism. It rejects the caste system and has been banned 3 times as a considered threat by the Indian government. It is a grassroots, Hindu-based group that promotes democracy and cultural identity in India, although some see it as a right-wing religious group.
On a side note, this story cannot be found on the RSS website, The Organiser. Om Prakash is also the name of a famous, deceased Indian film actor.
